#CRY: THE WEEPING SOWER

December 10, 2018 by Kaitlyn Dagen in Advent Series

the city looked different today
driving out, driving away,
thinking of the sowers song and
remembering when days were longer.
rain drops on windshields like
teardrops on the weary face
of the weeping sower.
i could always resonate with
the image of those tired tears,
the sowers sorrow,
and today i wonder why the crying.
regret, rejection,
the endless daily grind,
loss, disappointment,
pain of heart or mind.
yes,
the sorrow of mankind.
yet,
still we go out to labor
through all our fear
and all our sorrow,
trusting that our hands and god
will get us there,
some promised tomorrow.
“she who goes out weeping
will return with songs of joy.”
perhaps no one understood this better
than the teary mother of
a crying baby boy.
